Mikhail Campbell won an award this past Sunday night at the Poinciana Festival Awards Ceremony, which was the culmination of an arts festival held in Cayman‎ from Jan 27-31. His seven-song music album, titled "Islands,"‎ was awarded "Best E.P." (EP is short for extended play.)

The Matrixx or Kyle Matrixx (Mikhail’s stage names) released "Islands" about a year ago‎ and tracks from the project have been getting air play on some of Cayman’s local radio stations and have received good reviews. It's in the hip hop genre, which is his medium of choice. Mikhail wrote, recorded and mixed it himself and composed the music for one of the tracks. Two tracks are composed by other local producers with a few featured vocals by his friends.

Mikhail’s album can be heard on SoundCloud: ‎https://m.soundcloud.com/kylematrixx/sets/islands(Selecting individual tracks seem to work best‎)

St. George’s is very proud to share Mikhail’s accomplishments as we have watched him grow from very early beginnings. Mikhail was christened as a baby, attended Bible Study meetings as a youngster who sometimes sat under the dining table at his Mom’s home when it was her turn to host the meetings and performed at several of our fund-raising events. He is a very committed Sunday School teacher, well-loved by the students. Mikhail is the son of Dr. Verley Campbell and Mrs. Joan Scott-Henry, who currently attends Holy Trinity Church, Westgate, Montego Bay, Jamaica.
