The Mothers’ Union is a world-wide organization within the Anglican Church which was founded in 1896 by Mary Sumner. The purpose of the Mothers’ Union is to be specifically concerned with all that strengthens and preserves marriage and Christian family life.  Its objects are :

1.    To uphold Christ’s teaching on the nature of marriage and promote its wider understanding.
2.    To encourage parents to bring up their children in the faith and life of the Church.
3.    To maintain a worldwide fellowship of Christians united in prayer, worship and service.
4.    To promote conditions in society favourable to stable family life and the protection of children
5.    To help those whose family life has met with adversity.

The St. George’s branch of Mothers’ Union International was started in January 1985 and it has grown in numbers and strength throughout the past twenty five years. At present the group meets monthly on the third Tuesday at 5.30 p.m. for devotion as well as business , and quarterly for corporate communion.

It is a vibrant and committed  group which contributes greatly to the life and witness of the Church.
Membership is open to all who have been baptized in the name of the Holy Trinity.
