Outreach and Missions

Through guidance from Rev. Mary Graham, the Outreach Committee convened for its first meeting towards the end of March 2006. The committee spent some time deliberating on its role as it relates to community outreach and took a brief look at the needs of the church community, the extended George Town community as well as a more macro view of St Georges Anglican Out reach to the Cayman Islands .

While a number of great ideas were shared regarding areas of perceived need within our internal church community and the George Town environs; there was a consensus that the way forward was to conduct a needs assessment from the residents among the neighbourhoods off Eastern Ave, which involved house-to-house visits to administer the questionnaire. Mr. Cleviston Hunte readily agreed to undertake this task;a questionnaire was prepared and members from our church family were trained to administer the questionnaire early in 2007.

The results had underscored the value of the St. George’s Pre-school and the need for a programme such as PIN, which was started the following year.

To spread the Gospel and minister to people through services to others

1. To proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom

2. To teach, baptize and nurture new believers

3. To respond to human needs by loving service

4. To seek to transform unjust structures of society

5. To strive to safe guard the integrity of creation and sustain and renew the earth.
